Six Month Stats...

(Good question Gunner, yes, these people are really your relatives...as mommy makes goo goo faces at you!)

"Little" Gunner had his 6 month well-baby exam this morning at 8 am...wow, that is early when you have to drag 2 kids out of much needed sleep!
He is getting to be BIG boy Gunner...he is on the Full Term Baby charts, and not just at the 1%, but even better. He is now:

  • 15 lbs!!!! which is the 6th percentile for (FULL TERM babies)
  • 25 1/2 inches!!!! which is the 7th percentile for (FULL TERM babies)
  • And head circumference is the 12th percentile for (FULL TERM babies)
Let's compare....Greyson at 6 months, was 16 lbs, 24 1/2 inches! So this boy is growing like a weed! Wooo hooo....The only downside of this is, as I predicted, he will be getting $750 shots instead of $500 shots come January as they are based on weight.
In terms of development, he is right where a 5 month old baby should be, which is great since he is actually only 4 months and some change. He is making steady progress and they are extremely pleased with his growth (4 lbs and 3 inches in 2 months...they better be!)
We will be working on more tummy time to build his neck and get him ready to get moving and rolling. He is so close, but no cigar to rolling. He gets all up on his side and then rocks back down.
We will also be trying some solids (ie runny oatmeal milk) over Christmas break to see how that goes. If it is a hit, we will go for squash or sweet potatoes, which were Greyson's favorites!

I tried and tried to take a picture of Gunner with Santa hat on, but it was much more fun to eat than wear, as you can see by the pic!

27 weeks and counting...

So I had another dr appt today, so I thought I would update you all on the goings ons of little Pumkin.

First of all, I am not so sure he/she is that little. The karate chops that I am getting to in internals tell me this baby is the equivilent of Mia Hamm (girl soccer player) or David Beckham (boy soccer player)...yep, I am getting plain assualted. So vigorously that Brian was successfully able to feel baby wake up and kick someone (me) and it knocked his had off the belly. Yep, I felt it jump.

The appointment today went well. Here's the scoop:
  • I am gaining exactly what I am supposed to (about 1/2 - 1 lb each week).
  • My blood pressure is great 118/66, which means nothing to me, but they say it's good!
  • My test for 5th's disease came back completely negative, which means Pumkin has no exposure or effects of that.
  • Pumkin's heartrate was 154 today...a level Greyson's never was that high
  • I have to get sugar tested next week...we'll see what happens with that!

Dr Appt....22 weeks

Had my 22 week appointment today. Found out that baby pumkin is perfect, so despite the disappointing ultrasound, he/she is perfect. "No fetal abnormalities indicated" is a beautiful sentence.

On another good note, blood draw one for fifth's disease....negative. Yes, I have to do another, hence the name blood draw one, but that will be in another 2 weeks, so although not completely out of the woods, getting closer.

Of course, it wouldn't be possible to time it so that I could do the nasty glucola screen at the same time, instead, I get to be a human pin cushion...yee ha. Oh well, what mommy's do for their babies...we all know it.

Heart beat was right at 150 today. My weight, blood pressure and everything looks great. All is well and good on the baby front! In fact baby is moving like crazy lately. Loving it!

Ultrasound Info...

Well, despite this little one being very uncooperative during the ultrasound, it was still amazing to see the little pumkin in there. Unfortunately, the techs don't really tell you anything. They are not supposed to. So next Friday, I will hear from Dr. J that all is well.

The little one spent the entire ultrasound with his/her hand over it's face. The tech was trying to get a picture and instead of the 5 we left with of Greyson, which were 5x7's (profile, face, waving, feet, etc.) we got 1 3x4 that really doesn't look like much.

It was really hard to see much. I could tell that the , spine looked good, other than that I couldn't tell much. She also showed us the gender, but didn't tell us, and didn't confirm our guesses. Again, it was hard to tell anything. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed with whole thing. We didn't get our normal tech, had to drive to the hospital instead of our comfortable clinic, and then the baby just wasn't into being photographed...

Oh well, 19 more weeks and we will have a little one to love...

Appointment Update

Ok, so Dr. J really named Peanut for us. Today, she called the baby "pumpkin"....I like it. I know that I said we may try out sweet potato, but it is kinda a mouthful...So it may very well be pumpkin the rest of the pregnancy.

Let's try it....

So I had my third appointment today and everything looks great.
  • I only gained 2 pounds, which is exactly what I am supposed to gain, which I celebrated by eating a delicious tuna sub from Jimmy Johns!!
  • My blood pressure is perfect, 122/66.
  • I am measuring just right for where I am in the pregnancy...baby is growing just right.
  • Pumpkin's heartbeat was good and strong at 150 bpm

So the next time I go, I will be seeing pumpkin, not just hearing him/her. How exciting!

I have pics to post, I just need to find my usb hookup cable...so you can decide looking pregnant or not!

Dr. Appointment Update

Had our second appointment today...we have a heart rate for you who may use that guess the sex..baby was right at 150. *Among the theories of gender prediction, if the fetal heart rate is over 140, the baby will be a girl. If the heart rate is under 140, it's a boy.

Appointment went well, blood pressure is great, we declined the quad screen blood test, which would have given us some kind of percentage that could possibly predict issues with baby. It would be totally uncertain, just telling a risk, you would actually have to have amniocentesis to find out there is a possibility of something being wrong...which there are a lot of false positives. Amnio means a big needle goes in the belly, they take cells from the amniotic fluid, and increases the rate of miscarriage...not something I am really interested in.

No lectures on weight :) Everything looks good, big u/s is scheduled for 3/13/2008.
