8 weeks old...

Today, my baby is 8 weeks old! Two months and only supposed to be one. I will always have the hardest time answering the question "how old is he?"

I will be weighing and measuring him later along with pics, so I will update later on that.

I was so excited, but I think Greyson was moreso, when I came home last night and saw the new stroller on the deck all assembled ready for walking! Brian put together our double stroller and it was ready for me to take the boys for a walk last night. Greyson saw it as we pulled in and he said "there's my stroller" I had to take him for a walk in it last night even though Gunner didn't go with us...he was having some high quality cuddle time with his Daddy.

Speaking of his Daddy, I have to say I am in total awe of Brian. He always says that he is nervous or tentative about the baby, but he is amazing when it comes to Greyson. He plays nonstop, goofs around with him making the most mundane things fun, and gets up with him every morning as I have been staying up late and getting up in the middle of the night with Gunner. We are a great team, which I always knew, but this makes it so much more clear. Thank God for great Daddys!

5 weeks, 38 weeks gestational age

Our little guy is now 5 weeks old and flirting with the 6 lb mark! He is all of 5 lb 14 oz and 19 inches in length...getting really big. His cheeks of course are the biggest part of him.

He is getting the eating under his belt, taking over 90% of his feedings orally for the last two days and working on a third.

If he keeps this up, he may be home soon....Mommy is finally ready. I feel comfortable with him coming home. I will be cooping us up in the house for the next almost year, but I will be ready..once I lysol the entire house!

how lucky we are...

If you are at all familiar with preemies, you know exactly how lucky we are. Gunner has really had none of the standard "preemie issues"...no respiratory issues, no apnea spells, no surgeries, no brain bleeds, the list goes on. These are issues a lot of preemie parents have to deal with.

Our one and only issue is that he needs to be able to eat on his own...and he is working very hard at it. However, we all have to remember, he isn't even supposed to be here yet. Mommy is supposed to be fat and miserable right now...and instead I am feeling good and almost completely healed from the c-section. I also have my postpartum check up before my due date...that is weird.

I reflect on this luck and good fortune because I saw one of our NICU neighbors heading to the North Campus, wheeling their sweet baby boy to surgery. I nearly lost it. I was immediately moved to near tears and thought...how luch we are.
